Over the past 20 years Marena Burnett has developed and scaled access to innovative programming that connects people with one another and critical resources through roles in healthcare, start-ups, and nonprofits.
As Chief Engagement Officer at the Centering Healthcare Institute she had the opportunity to work with Federally Qualified Health Centers and Community Health Centers across the country that were providing holistic care to their patients and finding innovative approaches to address the social determinants of health.
Visiting clinics with vegetable gardens, teaching kitchens, nutrition classes built into the medical encounter, onsite farmers markets that accepted SNAP benefits, and partnerships with local food banks illuminated how access to healthy foods is at the core of health.
Marena has been a volunteer with TSNE partner Community Servings, and most recently served on the executive leadership team at Somerville nonprofit, Food For Free.
